Rachel is from Bolivar, Missouri, and spent her early years exploring her family’s farm, spending time on the beaches of Florida, and collecting everything (animals included). Her love of the oceans led her to the South for her B.S. at Samford University in Marine Biology, where she first came to the Sea Lab for summer classes. After graduation, she stayed at the lab for an internship before beginning her Master’s degree in Marine Science through the University of South Alabama. She joined Discovery Hall Programs in 2014 and focuses her time on outreach and the department’s remotely operated vehicle (ROV) programs. She is married with one daughter and enjoys gardening, reading, church activities, and spending time at Disney World.
