Greg hails from Jackson, Mississippi where he has had a fondness for sharks from an early age. Though he played sports throughout high school, he was not good enough to make millions of dollars at it. So, he pursued his sharky dreams at Auburn University and here at the DISL as an undergraduate, where he met his wife.

Once out of school, he worked in the music business booking concerts, then at a zoo, a science center, and finally the Dauphin Island Sea Lab. He has now taught in the Discovery Hall Programs since 2003.

He received his Masters in Secondary Science Education from the University of South Alabama in 2008 and completed an Educational Specialist: Teacher Leader degree from University of West Alabama in 2023.

Greg has four kids and a small zoo at their house. He still loves sports, is a bad drummer (but loves it), and yes, he still gets excited when he catches a shark or occasional sea turtle or weird things like sturgeon or glass squid while teaching.
