Scientific Communication

Prerequisites: Admission to the graduate program in Marine Sciences.

Instruction on the principles of scientific communication and opportunities to practice different forms of written and oral communication common to marine and other sciences.

Topics include:

• the rationale for scientists to communicate effectively
• how to identify and share information to different audiences
• successful scientific date presentations
• writing, editing, publishing, and reviewing abstracts, scientific papers, and proposals
• biases in scientific communication
