(January 08, 2021) --

Dauphin Island Sea Lab's Discovery Hall Programs' ROV Programs Coordinator Rachel McDonald recently received a $5,000 STEM Grant award from Ingalls Shipbuilding for STEM activities in virtual settings. The funding will go towards a new Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Loaner Kit Program to help get ROVs into classrooms across our area, especially into schools that are currently unable to travel to the Dauphin Island Sea Lab.

Ingalls Shipbuilding is in its 13th year of awarding STEM grants and has awarded over $1 million to deserving schools and organizations.  This is the second Ingalls STEM grant that DHP has received for the enhancement of their ROV programs. The first award was received in January 2018.

Stay tuned for more information as plans are underway to launch the ROV Loaner Kit Program in 2021.
