Discovery Hall Programs is once again traveling to Birmingham to host an educator workshop.

For more than a decade, DISL has partnered with NOAA's Office of Ocean Exploration and Research and the National Marine Sanctuaries Foundation to offer workshops for classroom teachers and informal educators highlighting the work of the Okeanos Explorer, America’s ship of discovery.

On November 15, DHP educators will partner with Southern Research faculty to host NOAA's Exploring the Deep Ocean workshop at the STEM Education Outreach Center in Birmingham.

The workshop aims to expand educators' knowledge of the technologies used today in ocean exploration. Educators will test out engaging hands-on activities and view online resources to guide classroom teaching and learning.  Ocean health, unique underwater habitats, underwater mapping, and remotely operated vehicles are just a few of the topics to be addressed.
