Our Rays of the Bay tank is a visitor favorite, especially for 6-year-old Olivia, whose family has long held a membership to the Alabama Aquarium. She loves the stingrays so much that she decided to lend a hand in making sure they have a good meal. With a little bit of help, Olivia mixed up some homemade lemonade and sold it to thirsty neighbors. Her lemonade stand raised $55, and she donated it all to the Alabama Aquarium for the stingrays.

Alabama Aquarium Director Mendel Graeber and Olivia spent some time chatting about the stingrays.

As a thank for her kindness, Aquarium Director Mendel Graeber gave Olivia an insider lesson with her own stingray tooth plate to take home.

Stingrays have a series of tooth plates that are arranged in rows (similar to their shark relatives). It’s common for stingrays to lose teeth into adulthood.
