Join Discovery Hall Programs educators and Sea Lab scientists this summer for an exploration of the biodiversity of Alabama’s coast!

This workshop will exemplify place-based education taking you to see firsthand our many coastal habitats- exploring Mobile Bay, Mississippi Sound, salt marshes, a maritime forest, sandy beaches, nearshore habitats and visit the Alabama Aquarium. With a focus on animals and plants, we’ll provide for the collection of specimens for your classrooms, discuss appropriate phenomena as we showcase many hands-on activities and ‘make and takes’ for your students, chat with local area experts and explore apps that you can use around your schoolyard.

Along the way, we’ll integrate some local Alabama history visiting the Fort Gaines and a Native American shell midden. You will leave with the confidence and materials you need to share the amazing Gulf coast with your students!

Please note that this workshop is geared to teachers of younger grades – K-8th, but all educators are welcome to apply.
