BIO Blitz campers explore the maritime forest.

Camp registrations are processed in the order in which they are received.

This day-long camp for ages 10-13 turns campers into Barrier Island Explorers. Campers will set out on an expedition across many of the diverse habitats of Dauphin Island, including the beach, salt marsh, and maritime forest.

They will practice observation skills and document their findings through various creative media along their journey. The educators from the Dauphin Island Sea Lab will share nature journaling, leave no trace principles, and the Alabama coast’s amazing biodiversity with campers.

  • What to wear: comfortable shoes and clothing that can get wet, dirty and muddy.
  • What to bring: refillable water bottle, sunscreen, towel, and lunch (refrigeration provided)
  • What to know: Campers are outside much of the day. There will be frequent water breaks and a mid-afternoon snack break (snacks are provided but feel free to send your camper’s favorite).
