(September 18, 2015) --
MOBILE, Ala. – Four museums in the Mobile area will open their doors free of charge Saturday, September 26, as part of Smithsonian magazine's 11th annual Museum Day Live! Participating local museums are the Conde-Charlotte House, the Estuarium at the Dauphin Island Sea Lab, the Mobile Museum of Art, and USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park.
On this day only, participating museums across the United States open their doors for free to those who download a Museum Day Live! ticket, emulating the spirit of the Smithsonian Institution's Washington, D.C.,-based facilities, which offer free admission every day.
Inclusive by design, the event represents Smithsonian's commitment to make learning and the spread of knowledge accessible to everyone. Last year's event drew more than 400,000 participants, and this year's event is expected to attract more museumgoers than ever.
The Conde-Charlotte House, the Estuarium at DISL, the Mobile Museum of Art, and USS Alabama Battleship, offer illuminating experiences in four diverse fields: historic architecture, marine science, fine art, and World War II history. Explore each museum's website to find out more about what the individual museums offer at:
The Museum Day Live! ticket is available for download at www.Smithsonian.com/museumday.
