Liz Hoadley

Marine Education Full-time Intern

Liz grew up in Delaware. As an avid swimmer and animal lover, marine science seemed like the perfect career choice. However, in high school, she participated in many volunteer opportunities through which she discovered her passion for teaching. She went on to pursue a B.A. in Biological Sciences Education at the University of Delaware. During a study abroad to the Cayman Islands her senior year, Liz realized that the best education positions are ones that get students immersed in the habitat of study. After graduating, she took a classroom teaching position in Delaware, where she taught high school marine biology. Though she enjoyed the content, she missed being outdoors. When her husband’s work took them to Monterey, CA, Liz seized the opportunity to get outside and worked as a Naturalist and Program Coordinator for Camp SEA Lab, an outdoor school. Liz recently moved to Dauphin Island and partnered with DHP for her graduate coursework. She is excited to join DHP staff and continue teaching about the environment. When she is not at DISL or working on graduate coursework Liz loves to cook, kayak, travel, and go to the beach with her husband, Kenny, and dog, Barley.
